Reese Witherspoon And Amy Schumer May Crash The Party In 'Who Invited Her?'
Reese Witherspoon and Amy Schumer are two of the most vocal actresses combating Hollywood sexism, but they aren't just talking about the issue, they're actually doing something about it. Both have taken it upon themselves to develop female-driven projects, and after they had very kind words to say about one another at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards last year, perhaps it was inevitable they'd cross paths once again.
A story over at The Tracking Board says Witherspoon will produce the comedy Who Invited Her? which Schumer is set to star in. Universal is reportedly beind the John Phillips-penned film about a woman who crashes her best guy friend's bachelor party. If this all sounds a little familiar, it's because Witherspoon was attached to it back in 2011 when Dreamworks had paid a hefty sum for the rights. At that time Sascha Rothchild (This American Life) had written the script and pitched it as a raunchy comedy, and that's not likely to change with Schumer taking over the lead role.
So we'll see where this goes. Witherspoon has been behind such female-oriented projects as Wild and Gone Girl, and she has the HBO miniseries event Little White Lies on the way. Schumer is following her hit comedy Trainwreck with the fourth season of Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer. She's also taking a dramatic turn in the PTSD drama Thank You for Your Service, followed by Mother/Daugher alongside Goldie Hawn. And finally she's writing a buddy comedy with her gal pal, Jennifer Lawrence.
