The Mountain Between Us is a romance that has been trying to find its perfect pair for a while now, without much success. For a time it was the gorgeous duo of Michael Fassbender and Margot Robbie, followed for a spell by Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam. Neither panned out, but a few months ago we learned Idris Elba would be playing one half of the romantic couple, and now we know who he'll be sharing loving embraces with, and boy is he lucky.
THR reports Kate Winslet is in talks to join Elba in the film, to be directed by Hany Abu-Assad, who last helmed music biopic The Idol (review of that here). Adapted from Charles Martin's book, the story centers on Ashley, a writer heading east to her wedding, and Ben, a doctor on the same flight. When their pilot suffers a heart attack and the plane crashes, the two find themselves stranded on a mountain, battling the elements and relying on one another to survive. Love blossoms between them, of course.
Filming begins this holiday season, and let's hope the trolls don't get riled up at the idea of Elba and Winslet together. Something tells me it could be a thing.
