'Blade Runner 2' Concept Art Teases A Toxic Future Los Angeles
We still don't know a lot about Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel, and it's likely to stay that way for a long time. But with filming set to begin this month on the follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic, we're at least finding out that the future Los Angeles is more bleak than before.
EW has revealed a pair of concept images from the film, revealing that the big city is is going through a toxic climate nightmare. Villeneuve says...
“The climate has gone berserk — the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic."
In one of the images you can see a vehicle that looks like a form of snowblower, which is pretty much what it is except that it hovers above the ground and actually destroys the toxic snow.
While we know Harrison Ford will be back as Rick Deckard, the roles played by Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, and Dave Bautista remain a mystery. Perhaps we'll learn more at Comic-Con? Probably not. Blade Runner 2 opens October 6th 2017.
