This isn't going to be your average release week for Star Trek Beyond. The third film in the relaunched franchise arrives during the 50th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's creation, and to celebrate there will be a big premiere at San Diego Comic-Con in a couple of days. Not only that, but Paramount and producer J.J. Abrams have heaped a ton of expectation on it by moving forward on a fourth movie. In short, a lot more eyes than usual are going to be on this one, and maybe that's why one final trailer has dropped so close to it hitting theaters.
The irony is that co-star and co-writer Simon Pegg JUST tweeted that fans should be avoiding trailers from here on out. Oops.
Here's the film's official synopsis which tells you absolutely nothing. Are we sure Pegg didn't write it?If you are planning to go see Star Trek Beyond, Simon suggests you avoid all TV Spots and trailers from this point forward.— Pegg News (@simonpegg) July 17, 2016
“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Star Trek Beyond opens July 22nd.
