First Trailer For Clea Duvall's 'The Intervention' Featuring Melanie Lynskey's Scene-Stealing Performance
How's the saying go? Every time you point a finger there are three more pointed right back at you? That adage is never more accurate than in The Intervention. Clea Duvall's directorial debut which debuted at Sundance earlier this year. Duvall gathered a terrific cast of indie stars including Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, Natasha Lyonne, Vincent Piazza, Ben Schwartz, Alia Shawkat, and Cobie Smulders, with the typically-awesome Lynskey taking home a special Jury Prize for her performance. Now you can get a hint of how good she was by checking out the first trailer which debuted today.
Duvall directed and penned the screenplay which centers on a group of friends on a weekend getaway, where they hope to have a "marriage intervention" for one couple (Smulders and Piazza). The hope is to encourage them to get a divorce rather than live in misery together, but as these things go it's the people leading the intervention who have the lion's share of problems. While the cast is uniformly terrific it really is Lynskey who steals the show as demanding, alcoholic Annie, who just can't stay out of everyone's business.
This was quite possibly my favorite film out of Park City and well worth checking out when it arrives on August 26th.
