Few capture the impassioned rage of a man on a mission better than Mel Gibson, and the Mad Max star is ready to channel that fury once again in Blood Father. A new trailer for the vengeance flick has dropped, revealing a side to Gibson that we haven't seen from him in years.
Directed by Jean-Francois Richet with a script by Peter Craig (The Town) and Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton), the film stars Gibson as an ex-criminal who must put his violent skills to use protecting his daughter (The Kings of Summer's Erin Moriarty) from a drug cartel that already shot her boyfriend and wants her next. Judging by this new footage this looks like a mean, stripped-down thriller with the kind of performance Gibson has always been great at.
Blood Father opened to solid reviews at the Cannes and Karlovy Vary Film Festivals. We'll see how it does stateside on August 12th.
