New Trailer For Michael Fassbender And Alicia Vikander's 'The Light Between Oceans'

Maybe one of these days Derek Cianfrance will get around to making a comedy or something, but so far he seems content to kick us in the teeth with heavy emotional dramas. Blue Valentine and his vastly underrated The Place Beyond the Pines put their characters through the wringer, and the same is in store for Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander in The Light Between Oceans.

A new minute-long preview has been released for adaptation of M.L. Stedman's post-WWI romance about an isolated couple living off the Australian coast. While become parents doesn't appear to be in the cards for them, their prayers are answered when an abandoned child washes up on shore, and they raise it as their own. That decision comes with consequences, both personal and far-reaching, that neither could have predicted.

This really doesn't look like your typical Disney movie, and they may be having some trouble finding a way to market it. Have you seen any ads for it? Probably not, and it opens on September 2nd which isn't that far away.
