Intense First Trailer For Christopher Nolan's WWII Drama 'Dunkirk'
We've come to expect nothing less than epic from Christopher Nolan, after his gargantuan trilogy featuring the Dark Knight, his mind-boggling trek through the mind with Inception, and most recently Interstellar. And now Nolan has turned his attention towards the battlefield with Dunkirk, and in a surprise the first trailer is already here.
Reportedly playing ahead of Suicide Squad screenings this weekend, the teaser is incredibly short but powerful as a crowded group of Allied soldiers wait helplessly while a possible enemy aircraft soars overheard. The story is based on Operation Dynamo, a mission to save more than 300,000 Allied and BEF troops surrounded by Nazis at the Dunkirk seaport. While Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, and Kenneth Branagh have supporting roles, the heavy lifting will be done by young stars Fionn Whitehead, Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, and Barry Keoghan.
Shot in 65mm and 65mm IMAX by Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, Dunkirk hits theaters July 21st 2017.
