Marvel Action Hits Harlem In New Trailer For 'Luke Cage'

In the new trailer for Marvel's upcoming Netflix series, Luke Cage, we see the titular hero, once again played by Mike Colter, packing his bags and moving out of Hell's Kitchen for Harlem. Think that's going to make his life any easier, getting away from former girlfriend Jessica Jones, who dragged him out of the shadows in the first place? Of course not, and it isn't long before Luke is back in the streets trying to save his city from those who would seek to destroy it. And as the ubiquitous nurse Claire Temple (the returning Rosario Dawson) tells Luke at one point, "Sometimes, if you want justice, you have to get it yourself."  Of course it helps to have unbreakable, bulletproof skin.

The latest trailer for Luke Cage features some of the new faces he'll be encountering on the mean streets of Harlem. Netflix regular Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) is the gangster villain Cottonmouth, Simmone Missick is the badass Misty Knight, Alfre Woodard as ambitious politician Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as Shades, all characters who played a key part in Cage's Marvel Comics series. Don't be surprised if we see Krysten Ritter pop up as Jessica Jones, and hopefully Finn Jones as Cage's best pal, Iron Fist, since his series comes next.

One thing that makes this series different than either Jessica Jones or Daredevil is the music, and we've been promised by showrunner Cheo Coker that hip-hop will play a big role. You can get a sense of that in this footage but I can't wait to hear how it influences the show in full context.

Get ready to binge on Luke Cage when it arrives on September 30th.
