Few would have anticipated that John Wick would be one of the best action movies of last year, heck of the last ten years, but the sequel won't have the benefit of surprising anybody. Keanu Reeves is coming back for John Wick: Chapter 2 and while we're still some months away before it hits theaters, New York Comic-Con will get an early look next month. In anticipation of that, Lionsgate has dropped the first poster, which shows Reeves as the best-dressed killer in the business. Yeah, I'm thinking he's back.
Reeves will be joined by Ruby Rose, Thomas Sadoski, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Peter Stormare, Laurence Fishburne, and Common, with Chad Stahelski directing this one solo. Here's the plot synopsis:
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017.
It's unclear how much Lionsgate will be showing at NYCC. Their panel, which will be shared with the Power Rangers reboot, promises "never before seen footage" and a Q&A with the cast. It takes place at The Theater in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, October 8th at 2:00pm if you hope to attend.
