An Extended Cut Of 'Suicide Squad' Is On The Way In Time For Christmas

Hey look, it was pretty unfair what befell Suicide Squad before the movie even hit theaters. Every decision made between Warner Bros. and director David Ayer was aired out in public, making a bigger deal out of the production than was likely necessary. While we did learn that Ayer and the studio had to have a meeting of the minds to decide on the final cut, the version we saw in theaters was the vision Ayer wanted. Or at least that's what he said.

But it does look as if something was left on the cutting room floor because Warner Bros. has confirmed the release of an "extended cut" of the $730M-grossing movie. It will arrive on Digital HD  on November 11th before hitting Blu-Ray on December 13th, just in case you want to make it a gift for someone this Christmas (*ahem*). This version will include an additional 13-minutes of footage, and one can only hope it's all of that Joker material Jared Leto was so angry about.

Critical reviews aside, Suicide Squad was a big success and it promises to make a mint on home release. It's also probably just the first step in Warner Bros.' extension of the franchise, which will include a spinoff featuring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.
