By the time the new thriller Sleepless rolls around early next year we'll be coming down from the highs of another awards season. The Oscars will be two days away, and theaters will be packed with cheap horrors and thrillers, most of them forgettable or just plain terrible. But there's a chance that Sleepless could break away from the pack, both because of its strong cast and because the trailer suggests a kick-ass ticking clock flick.
Starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan, the film centers on a corrupt cop who screws over the wrong drug lord, putting his son's life in danger. Gabrielle Union, T.I., David Harbour, Drew Sidora, and rappers Young Jeezy and Lloyd Banks co-star with Swiss filmmaker Baran bo Odar at the helm. Here's the synopsis:
SLEEPLESS stars Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, White House Down) as undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground. When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnaps Downs’ teenage son. In one sleepless night he will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation and bring the kidnappers to justice.
Sleepless hits theaters on February 24th 2017.
