New 'Justice League' Image Reveals Amber Heard As Mera, Queen Of Atlantis

Justice League doesn't arrive for more than a year but Warner Bros. has been out there early trying to drum up excitement for Zack Snyder's latest super flick. Already we've seen a teaser reel for the film, which follows Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as they gather together the team to face a powerful threat to the planet. Aquman (Jason Momoa) will be part of the recruitment effort, of course, but the story will also introduce us to some of the supporting players who will be in his upcoming solo. And now today we're getting a look at arguably the most important one.

We now have our first look at Amber Heard in the role of Mera, who will debut in Justice League before taking on a much bigger role in Aquaman. In the comics she is his wife and queen of Atlantis, gifted with the ability to create "hard water" objects. Chances are she will just be hanging around Atlantis during Justice League and probably won't do much, but you never know. Her inclusion does suggest a key part in future of the DCU, though, and if it means we get to see Heard kick some ass then it's all good.

Justice League opens next year on November 10th, Aquaman on July 27th 2018. [IGN]
