New 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Trailer Brings Immeasurable Power
At this point, it seems all of the anxiety over those Rogue One: A Star Wars Story reshoots has faded, and now it's time to just focus on whether the movie is any good. Certainly, any anticipation for it hasn't been diminished in the least, which is why we've all been on pins and needles awaiting the latest trailer. Well, why wait any longer? Here it is:
This trailer gives us an increased look at Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, the inventor father to Felicity Jones's rebel soldier, Jyn Erso. She and a small group of soldiers have been tasked with stealing plans for the mighty Death Star, which her father was forced to build by the Empire. Can we assume he intentionally designed its weakness so a rookie pilot named Luke Skywalker could later destroy it?
My greatest takeaway from this is that Rogue One continues to look more like a war movie than any other Star Wars film ever has. There were reports that some of the reshoots were Disney's attempt to lessen that somewhat, and I hope those stories prove to be false.
Directed by Gareth Edwards with Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker co-starring, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens December 16th.
