New Trailer For 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' Brings The Zombie War Home
Similar to Underworld, the Resident Evil franchise is one many people have a hard time believing is still around. That is until they look at the box office numbers and the $900M its earned across five zombie-killing movies at a cost of practically nothing. But this latest film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, appropriately enough wraps the saga of Alice (Milla Jojovich) up with one last explosive battle against the undead hordes of Umbrella Corporation.
Paul W.S. Anderson directs the last installment of the franchise he launched based on the hit Capcom video games, with Ali Larter, Ruby Rose, Li Bingbing, Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, and William Levy starring as characters both new and old. Basically you know if these movies are your thing or not. Some will be sad to see them go, others probably could care less. I'm somewhere in the middle, having enjoyed a few of them while admitting the story may have run its course. Here's the official synopsis:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began — Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter opens January 27th 2017. Call me crazy but I have a hard time believing Sony would let a money maker like this go.
