The Wasp Confirmed For Untitled Fourth 'Avengers' Movie

Marvel's Ant-Man served as the introduction to more than just the titular hero played by Paul Rudd, it was also the debut of the future Wasp, with Evangeline Lilly in the role. The film concluded with an obvious tease that she would be donning the costume next time we saw her, and that will happen in 2018's co-billed Ant-Man and the Wasp. But what happens to her after that? Does she get her own movie? Does she get to hang out with the Avengers like Ant-Man did in Captain America: Civil War?

The answer to that last question is "yes"...but not right away. Speaking with Blastr over the weekend at NYCC, Lilly spoke about suiting up as the Wasp and confirmed she would not be a part of Avengers: Infinity War. However the character will be showing up later as part of the untitled fourth Avengers movie...

“I’m excited because its essentially going to be, um, the origin of the Wasp. Of course, we’re going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle, and put on the suit, and fly about, and do her thing. Following that one, there’s an Avengers series coming out, I believe its a two parter, and, um, the Wasp won’t be in the first part, she’ll be in the second part because they want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Wasp joining the Avengers, or at least fighting beside them, isn't that much of a surprise. The battle against Thanos will really kick into high gear in that fourth film and it will be all hands on deck at that point. I think this also suggests to us the battle will take place primarily on Earth, but that's just a guess on my part.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens July 6th 2018; Avengers: Infinity War arrives May 4th 2018, and the untitled fourth Avengers movie on May 3rd 2019.
