'X-Men: Apocalypse' Honest Trailer Says Bryan Singer Ruined Franchise Again
So what went wrong with X-Men: Apocalypse? Judging by the other movies that came out last summer it probably should have been the biggest, and yet it failed like so many sequels did. Considering how the newly-relaunched trilogy had been thriving with X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, this was a huge disappointment to fans and we've seen 20th Century Fox take a step back from the franchise ever since.
And now Bryan Singer and his X-Men face their toughest opponent yet: Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers. Yep, X-Men: Apocalypse is the latest X-flick to get skewered and mostly they rip the film for being a convoluted mess that's just "going through the motions" of the prior movies. And it's hard to argue with that assessment as everything from Quicksilver's cameo to Jean Grey's lame storyline to the shoehorned Wolverine appearance had a "been there done that" feel. Oscar Isaac doesn't fare too well as Apocalypse, the focus on Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique is annoying, and the whole '80s setting was pointless this time. Singer doesn't escape criticism either as the vid correctly hails him as “the director that successfully launched the X-Men franchise, left when things got bad, came back after Matthew Vaughn fixed it and sort of tied it all together", only to ruin it again.
Anyway, check it out for yourself and let us know your thoughts!
