While we don't see Michael Cera as much on the screen, he's found a comfortable home making smaller, independent films that debut at Sundance. A few years after he hit the fest with
Crystal Fairy and
Magic Magic, he's back again with another twofer in the NEXT category. The first is
Lemon, which sees him starring alongside Judy Greer and Nia Long. But the one I've got my eye on is
Person to Person, that finds Cera in an ensemble alongside Abbi Jacobson, Tavi Gevinson, Isiah Whitlock, Michaela Watkins, Olivia Luccardi, Ben Rosenfield, Buddy Durress, Bene Coopersmith, George Sample III and Philip Baker Hall.
Directed by Dustin Guy Defa, the film follows a record collector as he "hustles for a big score while his heartbroken roommate tries to erase a terrible mistake, a teenager bears witness to her best friend’s new relationship, and a rookie reporter, alongside her demanding supervisor, chases the clues of a murder case involving a life-weary clock shop owner. "
The Sundance Film Festival runs from January 19th-29th.
