'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Adds 'Doctor Strange' Composer Michael Giacchino

Let's just say that composer Michael Giacchino has had a busy year. Just a little. Already he's scored Disney's Zootopia, Star Trek Beyond, last weekend's Doctor Strange, and coming up he has a little thing called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which he took over after Alexandre Desplat bailed.  And next year is shaping up to be just as crowded now that he's signed on to score Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The rumor has been kicking around all weekend after a Reddit user said Marvel's Kevin Feige "accidentally" let the news slip at a USC screening of Doctor Strange. He followed it up with "“We announced that right? I really hope we announced that.”

Yeah sure. Well it's out there now so. This is probably a good move. I'm not always a fan of Giacchino's upbeat scores because sometimes they don't fit the material. For instance, he's working on War for the Planet of the Apes and I'm certain it won't make any sense there. But most of the stuff he's done for Disney/Pixar has been good, and his style should mesh with Spider-Man: Homecoming nicely. The film hits theaters on July 7th 2017.
