There was a stretch in the late '90s and early '00s when it seemed every marginally recognizable TV series was being turned into a big screen comedy. It was a rough stretch (Personally I found I Spy to be the worst) that shined a bright ol' light on Hollywood's lack of creativity. Those movies kind of went away for a while but they are definitely back and leading the charge is Baywatch, based on that David Hasselhoff series that ran for way too long, was way too popular around the world, and introduced us to too many D-level celebs and future reality show stars.
Not that you'll find any has-beens on this version of Baywatch, because its Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexadra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera showing off their hot bods in tight red swimsuits. Directed by Seth Gordon, the film finds Johnson as a veteran lifeguard butting heads with a brash newcomer (Efron, naturally) who can't keep his eyes off Daddario's boobs. That might be an issue considering their profession. Eventually they'll find common ground and work together to save the beach from a corrupt official looking to shut them down.
While there are a few funny gags most of them seem to be plays on the old TV series, like Rohrbach as CJ Parker, whose slo-motion job resembles Pamela Anderson's. Otherwise the boob and balls jokes are really lazy, and I hope they're just saving the best for the finished product.
