First Trailer For 'Blade Runner 2049' Teases A Decades-Old Mystery

There's still quite a lot we don't know about Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049, except that it takes place decades after Ridley Scott's 1982 film and that Harrison Ford is returning as Rick Deckard. The secrecy has been welcome, though, because there are a lot of left over questions from the first movie. That said, the curtain is beginning to lift with the reveal of the first trailer and synopsis, which places Deckard as a sort of legendary figure in the blade runner world...

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

The footage is short, but it does show Gosling's Officer K locating Deckard, who is understandably on a hair-trigger. So at least we won't have to wait until the end of the movie to know whether he gets found. Something tells me the secret Deckard carries is the big one fans have been kicking around for three decades, which makes it all the better original scribe Hampton Fancher co-wrote the script. Featuring an incredible supporting cast of Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, and Jared Leto, Blade Runner 2049 opens October 6th 2017. Expect the trailer to arrive very soon.
