New 'Logan' Image Reveals Which Villain Richard E. Grant Is Playing
Despite the appearance of an Essex Corporation agent at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, we don't have any firm confirmation Mr. Sinister will be appearing in Logan, the final film to feature Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. That said, considering he was stealing a vile of Wolvie's blood the villain is likely to show up. Is that who Richard E. Grant's character ultimately will turn out to be? Maybe, but for now we know he'll be Dr. Zander Rice, one of the creators of the X-23 project. A new image was revealed featuring Grant, captioned simply with the word "Rice."
In the comics series that really launched the female Wolverine clone known as X-23, Rice is seen to be a sadistic monster who abuses her every chance he gets. His father had worked on the original Weapon X program and was killed at Wolverine busted out of the facility. Hmmm...sounds like something we've seen before, eh? It was Rice who formulated the "trigger scent" that drives Laura, aka X-23, into a berserker rage.
Sinister can shapeshift so there's still a chance Rice ends up being the prominent X-villain. Or he may show up in Deadpool 2 or another movie down the line. Logan also stars Dafne Keen as X-23, Boyd Holbrook as Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier. The film opens March 3rd 2017 directed by James Mangold.
