Sacha Baron Cohen Has 'Greed', Julie Delpy To Direct 'My Zoe', RJ Cyler Joins 'Sierra Burgess Is A Loser'
Sacha Baron Cohen is set to star in Brit comedy, Greed, to be directed by Michael Winterbottom. As expected from the likes of Cohen, the film is a satire of the wealthy elites' lifestyle, with the actor playing an immoral retail billionaire. Sounds like perfect timing for a film like this given the current political climate. Are we sure this isn't a biopic about our President-Elect? [Deadline]
Continuing to put a greater emphasis on her filmmaking career, Julie Delpy will direct, star, and write My Zoe. She'll be joined by co-star Daniel Bruhl, Gemma Arterton, and Lior Ashkenazi in the film which has her playing Isabelle, a geneticist raising her daughter Zoe alone after a bad marriage. Isabelle takes matters into her own hands when tragedy strikes her fractured family. Bruhl and Arterton play a couple she turns to in Moscow, while Ashkenazi is her new boyfriend. [Deadline]
RJ Cyler, the scene-stealer from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, has joined Ben Hardy in Sierra Burgess is a Loser. The modern Cyrano de Bergerac retelling finds the most popular girl in school teaming with the school loser to win over their respective crushes after a case of mistaken identity. Cyler, who will suit up as the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers, will play the best friend who can't work up the courage to tell the popular Sierra he has a crush on her. Ian Samuels will direct from a script by Lindsey Beer. [Deadline]
