'Attack The Block' Director Joe Cornish To Helm 'The Kid Who Would Be King'

Hey, remember Joe Cornish? He was hot shit for a while there, after impressing all of us with his directorial debut, Attack the Block. He was on everybody's list for just about everything after that, from Star Trek Beyond to Masters of the Universe to Kong: Skull Island, and he did exactly none of them. He worked with Edgar Wright on Ant-Man a little bit, but we are still waiting for a proper sophomore effort from Cornish. Fortunately, we won't have to wait much longer.

Cornish has signed on to direct family adventure film, The Kid Who Would Be King.  The story, penned by Cornish, is described as “a family fantasy action-adventure movie about a band of young kids embarking on an epic quest to thwart a Medieval menace.” Sounds totally Amblin-esque, which could be awesome in Cornish's hands. There were similarly nostalgic elements in Attack the Block but Cornish was able to put his own spin on them. No reason to doubt he can do it again.

The film is in the casting stages now with shooting to being this summer for a release next year on September 28th.
