It's Twice The James Franco In First Teaser For David Simon's 'The Deuce'

If the idea of David Simon bringing a new show to HBO doesn't get you excited, then we probably can't be friends. The creator of The Wire, Treme, and writer on Homicide: Life On the Street, Show Me a Hero, and The Corner can do no wrong in my book, and his latest series, The Deuce, already looks like a winner.

Set in the late '70s and early '80s at the beginning of the porn boom, the film stars James Franco in a dual role as mob brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Candy, a sex worker who makes the transition into the porn industry, which had just been legalized.

This is only a brief teaser but already I'm hooked. Expect some familiar faces from The Wire to show up, too, such as Anwar Glover, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr. Also look for appearances by Margarita Levieva, David Krumholtz, Ralph Macchio, and Zoe Kazan.

HBO will premiere The Deuce on September 10th, with Breaking Bad's Michelle MacLaren directing the first episode.
