Doctor Strange Has A Dire Warning In New Trailer For 'Thor: Ragnarok'
A new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has been released, and unlike the previous two this one is a Japanese version. So it doesn't come with quite the same idiosyncratic quirks that made the previous trailers so different from what we normally see from Marvel. But what it does have is awesome Japanese voiceover like you'd hear during a particularly action-packed episode of Dragon Ball Z, and an appearance by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) that is pretty darn grim.
“There’s a great change in your future. Destiny has dire plans for you", says the good Doctor to the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) before getting a less-than-serious response. It strikes just the right tone for a film that is meant to be humorous, with Taika Waititi directing what has been previously called a Hulk/Thor buddy comedy, and serious with the outright destruction of Asgard at the talons of Hela (Cate Blanchett). This is also the first time the film looks a lot like a traditional superhero story, with Thor gathering up a team of heroes, including Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and Heimdall (Idris Elba) to fight evil. Not so much on all the gladiator stuff.
Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3rd.
