Hayley Atwell Joins Disney's 'Christopher Robin'; Demian Bichir Boards 'Chaos Walking'
One way to tell the difference between Fox Searchlight's Goodbye Christopher Robin (which just dropped a new trailer) and Disney's Christopher Robin: one stars Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie, while the latter film boasts Marvel's Agent Carter herself, Hayley Atwell. Atwell joins Ewan McGregor in the live-action film which centers on a grown-up Christopher Robin, the son of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne and the character from the books, who has now lost all sense of imagination. Good thing Pooh and the other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood show up to help. Marc Forster, who directed the similar Finding Neverland, is behind the camera. [Variety]
Oscar nominee Demian Bichir has joined Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland in the anticipated YA adaptation, Chaos Walking. If the talent is good in front of the camera, it's just as stacked elsewhere. Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is directing, based on a script that was worked on by Ness, Charlie Kaufman, John Lee Hancock, Lindsey Beers, and Gary Spinelli. Based on the first book in Patrick Ness's trilogy, the story centers on , Todd Hewitt and Viola Eade, who exist in a dystopian society where everyone's thoughts can be heard in a chaotic "noise" of images, words, and sounds. Only Viola is an escape against the noise, and together with Todd they venture in a dangerous new world while discovering the truth about the home they left behind. Bichir will play Todd's protective father. [Deadline]
