Iko Uwais & Frank Grillo Kick Alien Butt In The 'Beyond Skyline' Trailer

Hey, what's your favorite scene from 2010's Skyline? Anybody? If you can't remember the alien invasion flick from the Strouse Brothers (who were practically never seen again), it was actually a decent midsized hit, earning $78M on a budget of around $20M. And that was with a cast that was headlined by...Eric Balfour, Brittany Daniel, and Donald Faison. Straight up. Not that anybody was expecting there to be a sequel, but if there was going to be one, waiting seven years for Beyond Skyline is a little weird.

That said, the film's first trailer isn't bad, and the idea of The Raid's Iko Uwais teaming up with The Purge's Frank Grillo to battle aliens is pretty cool. The story actually takes place concurrently to the previous film, and follows a tough-as-nails detective as he fights to free his son from a nightmarish alien warship. Also in the film are Uwais' The Raid sparring partner Yayan Ruhian, Bojana Novakovic (Edge of Darkness), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), and Jonny Weston (We Are Your Friends).

The Strouse Brothers step into a producer role while Liam O'Donnell directed and wrote the script, having penned the first movie. So he knows this world, these characters, and frankly this looks like a serious step up.
