Red Band Trailer For 'Tulip Fever' Assures Us It's Really Happening This Time
I think the Weinsteins figured out a long time ago that there's no place in today's movie market for a period drama like Tulip Fever. The film has been completed forever now, but has been delayed so many times, often mere hours before its release date, that it has becoming something of a running gag around Hollywood. The first photo and footage was seen back in 2015! After being bumped from its August date just a week ago, Tulip Fever is supposedly opening next month, and we have a new red band trailer that is supposed to convince us it will really happen.
Starring Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Dame Judi Dench, Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger, Zach Galifianakis, Cara Delevingne, Tom Hollander, Jack O'Connell, and many more, the film takes place in 17th-century Amsterdam during the tulip craze. Vikander plays a woman in an unhappy marriage who strikes out on a romantic affair with the painter hired to paint her portrait.
The cast is pretty much the only reason anybody would go see this movie, but Weinstein tries to lure in a different audience by flashing some boobies in this trailer. Well I've got my ticket!
Directed by Justin Chadwick, Tulip Fever opens September 1st. Maybe.
