If a movie could be judged on cast alone, Marvel's Thor film would be the greatest superhero film evah! Fresh on the heels of the news that they had finally cast Thor's running buddies, The Warriors Three, we learn that Idris Elba(The Wire, Rocknrolla, Obsessed) has signed on to the film as well. He'll be taking on the role of Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard who stands at it's entrance to protect against intruders.
I'm sure the ladies will be very happy at this news. Frankly, so am I. Elba's been a favorite actor of mine ever since The Wire, and his film career has been surprisingly varied and mostly successful. The guy's got charisma for days. His addition to the cast can only make this film better.
Shooting on Thor begins in January, with a release date set for May 2011.
