Spike Lee's New Joint

If the former Mars Blackmon is involved, you better believe I stand up and take notice. Spike Lee will be exec producing a big screen adaptation of period crime thriller, Miss: Better Living Through Crime. THe director on the project is Antoine Fuqua, who's biggest claim to fame was his gritty urban cop thriller Training Day back in 2001. John Ridley will be penning the script.

Better Living takes place in 1900s New York, and deals with Nola, a poor white girl forced to survive on the streets. She becomes associated with Slim, an African American pimp with a shady history. The two join forces as a pair of killers for hire, trying to stay ahead of the cops.

I don't know much about the source material, but the premise sounds like it's right up Fuqua and Lee's alley. No word yet on casting or possible start dates, but I'm keeping a close eye on this one.
