Zombieland 2 Confirmed! Jackass 3 Confirmed! Both in 3-D?

Ok, I think the 3-D fad has finally reached critical mass. It was pretty obvious after it's $80M+ tally just a few months ago that a sequel to Zombieland was inevitable. But what we didn't know was that Sony was looking to punch it up a bit more by adding the overrated third dimension into the mix. It makes sense, in a way, but it's completely unnecesarry given Zombieland's success. It already has a fanbase willing to hop aboard for a sequel, so why bother? It's hard to dispute that 3-D films have brought financial windfalls, however.

Sony is currently in discussion with Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles. No word on Abigail Breslin or Emma Stone, both of which I consider to be key cogs in the success of any sequel. Director Ruben Fleischer is already aboard, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are hard at work on the screenplay.

But that's not all for the 3-D shenanigans, as Paramount and MTV Films are set to begin shooting Jackass 3-D in January. What the hell? Do I really need to see Johnny Knoxville's ass crack up close and personal? The film is slated to be released some time in 2010 as it's currently on Paramount's release schedule, but as it stands now they are still conducting camera tests to see if the 3-D cams are even going to be doable. Personally, I hope not. I loved the first two Jackass movies, which is odd because I despised the TV show back when it was on. The previous two Jackass movies have combined for over $160M worldwide.
