Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
What the hell? Could it be any more bland and generic? Then again, that pretty much encapsulates my feelings on the franchise as a whole. And yet, due to how much I loved Vin Diesel in Babylon AD
The Riddick trilogy began back in 2000 with the sleeper hit, Pitch Black, introducing us to the Furyan soldier as he fought to stay alive on the planet Hades. The 2004 sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, showcased his attempts to elude capture while also delving deeper into his origin. The two films have combined to gross over $160M on fairly limited budgets, and have spawned two video games and an animated feature.
