Trailer Time: Skyline, directed by the Brothers Strause

Footage of the Brothers Strause's latest sci-fi flick, Skyline, screened at Comic-Con and received some generally good buzz. The low budget film stars Donald Faison, Brittany Daniel, and small group of other good looking folks as a group of survivors trying to withstand an alien invasion.

The Comic-Con footage has finally been released, and I'm definitely getting a War of the Worlds vibe, but the visuals are reminiscent of District 9. It's amazing what can be accomplished with less money nowadays. There's not much that happens throughout most of it, but that final scene breathtaking and hints at a larger story at play.

The Brothers Strause will be familiar to most people as directors of Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. Some people like to say it was the "good" AvP film, which to me is like saying you prefer to eat fresh dog poop than stale dog poop. Whatever. I like the look of this one, so expect further updates on it from us here. Skyline is due out on November 11th, 2010. Probably won't get a large theatrical run, but Relativity Media has already struck a deal with Netflix to stream the film almost immediately following. Check out the trailer below, followed by a brief synopsis.

SYNOPSIS
In the sci-fi thriller Skyline, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. Skyline is directed and produced by the Brothers Strause (Alien vs. Predator: Requiem), whose company Hydraulx has provided visual effects for Avatar, Iron Man 2, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and 300.
