A script for a possible remake has been floating around for a couple of years, with Robert Rodriguez actually announced to direct the film at one point. Who do you think he wanted to star? Rose McGowan, of course! Back when they were still on speaking terms she was up for pretty much anything and everything Rodriguez wanted to do(Red Sonja for instance). Well that fell through as a lot of Rodriguez projects do, with allegations that Universal Studios didn't want to dump millions into a potential flop with an unproven star. D'oh. ) was attached at one point that was never actually confirmed.So now we turn to today and a rather curious tweet from Pajiba...

I'm going to assume that the quotations around "attached" indicate that this is probably a rumor at best. Considering all the production difficulties the film has faced thus far, it's hard to believe anything is true until we actually see the actress on set in skintight spandex. Off hand I'd say it makes for an odd career move for Hathaway, who has reached the point of being a perennial Oscar contender. One thing it does confirm is that Luketic probably isn't around anymore, if he ever actually was.
