A very Helen Mirren-centric trailer for Julie Taymor's The Tempest has been released, and I like this one even more than I did the last one. I missed the one and only screening of it(boooo!!), but my colleagues who saw it have said nothing but good things, in particular about Helen Mirren's gender twisting performance as Prospera(the Shakespeare original featured a male named Prospero). So it looks like while everyone else is in line for The Fighter or Tron: Legacy next week, I'll be the guy off to the side to see The Tempest. The Tempest stars Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, Russell Brand, Djimon Hounsou, Felicity Jones, Alan Cumming, Ben Whishaw, and more. It opens limited released tomorrow December 10th, but opens here in DC on December 17th. We're always lagging behind. It's like we live in the cinematic third world. Check out the trailer below!
