Tron: Legacy sequel soon to be announced?

Tron: Legacy has probably pulled in around $300M worldwide by now. Well deserved, if you ask me. Never was a big fan of the original, but the sequel actually makes Tron a more interesting movie in retrospect. Whatever, I'm sure Disney could care less about why I think Tron Legacy was great, they're concerned with the bottom line, and the bottom line is that it's making money. Period. So you know there's going to be another one, don't you?  Harry Knowles over at Aint It Cool News seems to have the scoop...

Knowles: TRON LEGACY, a film that many people loved, and a lot of people wanted more from, and that a very vocal minority incessantly bitch about... is getting close, incredibly close to having its SEQUEL announced!

Now the real question is... Where does TRON go from here?  There is a plan, but it is being closely guarded.   There's a TV show in the works to keep the brand popping till the next Theatrical run, but it looks like us TRON geeks won't be having to sit around for 28 years hanging onto this last one, like we did the first one.

A Tron TV series? I'm going to bet that it's an animated series, similar to that of Cartoon Network's The Clone Wars. That's just a hunch and nothing I've heard officially.

Tron: Legacy's ending left the door wide open for more adventures in the Grid, and it looks like we'll be getting more than any of us would've anticipated. Here's hoping the first thing Disney does is lock down Daft Punk to do the score.  They have to realize how essential the music was to why the film connected with so many folks.
