Ed Harris to play Senator John McCain in HBO's Game Change

Hard to believe there was ever a time that I liked senator John McCain, but back in 2000 he was arguably my favorite presidential candidate. A decade of watching him flop like a dying fish on literally every principle he's ever had has changed my tune, but there's no denying he remains one of the most entertaining members of Congress. His 2008 Presidential campaign was especially turbulent, with much of it captured in Mark Halperin and John Heileman's book, Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime.  HBO's been developing an adaptation, with Jay Roach directing and a script by Danny Strong(both teamed up on HBO's Recount). Julianne Moore is already locked in as Sarah Palin, and now the other half of that ticket is nailed down as well.

Ed Harris(The Hours) will play the Arizona senator in the film, locking up the Republican part of the race. Now the only question is who will play the other key figures in the story: Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, Hilary and Bill Clinton.

Ed Harris most recently starred in Peter Weir's The Way Back, and has two films coming up in the next few months. That's What I Am, a comedy from WWE Studios featuring pro wrestler Randy Orton. And the Sam Worthington-starring heist film, Man on a Ledge
