* I'm pretty much done with
The Three Stooges casting news, so with shooting set to begin next month this should be wrapped up soon. Just
last week it was reported that Will Sasso was a frontrunner to play pretty much any of the Stooges in the Farrelly Brothers' film, and now
Deadline has confirmed he'll be Curly. That makes the most sense. Hank Azaria and James Marsden are now being looked at for the last two Stooges. I'm diggin' the Marsden addition. Dude has been seriously funny in a number of movies over the last few years. However I'm still not hyped for this film at all.
* Haven't heard much about Paramount's planned reboot of Tom Clancy's
Jack Ryan
franchise lately. Not since Jack Bender(
Lost
) was brought in to direct Chris Pine(
Star Trek
) in the lead role once embodied by Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, and Alec Bladwin. There's a good reason for the silence, apparently, as development of the film has been slow. Steve Zaillian had been brought in to do rewrites on the script, but now he's dropped out. With this added delay, it's looking more likely we'll be seeing Pine next in JJ Abrams'
Star Trek sequel, which might begin shooting in the fall.
* I don't recall
Miss Marple
ever being quite so hot. Jennifer Garner is set to play Agatha Christie's spinster detective in a complete reimagining of the author's mystery novels. Miss Marple has been featured in over a dozen novels and short stories, and has been featured on the big screen as well. The only one of those I actually saw was
The Mirror Crack'd
, which featured Angela Lansbury(
Murder, She Wrote
), Elizabeth Taylor, Tony Curtis and Rock Hudson. Don't expect this new version, scripted by Mark Frost(
Fantastic Four
) to skew old. This being a Disney production, they'll want to turn this into a potential franchise, something that could rival Warner Brothers'
Sherlock Holmes
.
