I'll be honest, but Clive Owen never made an impression on me until I saw him in 2003's Angelina Jolie humanitarian flick, Beyond Borders. And even then the impression he made wasn't a good one. I thought he was dull and boring. It must've been a side effect of that lousy film, because ever since then Owen has far and away been my favorite actor, surpassing John Cusack. It was his stand out performance opposite Julia Roberts, Jude Law, and Natalie Portman in Closer that did it for me. His presence in that film is undeniable. Since then, Owen has proven to be a versatile and charismatic leading man, equally capable in thrillers(Derailed, Children of Men), dramas(The Boys Are Back), and comedies(Duplicity). He even makes movies that stink far better than they have any right to be. Lookin' at you, The International!
