Bane's origin in The Dark Knight Rises revealed?
This comes from a commenter on IMDB, who says he got the information from a production assistant on the set of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, so feel free to get your sodium fix taking this with as much salt as possible. The commenter claims to have information on Nolan's plans for the origin of Bane(Tom Hardy), the muscle bound warrior who will serve as one of the many enemies Batman will have to deal with in the film...
Bane is discovered after Ra's burns down a village with the league of shadows --- every citizen completely wiped out -- they watch as the mayhem ensues.
However, before leaving, a young boy rises from a BURING PIT, the boy (young bane) is covered in flames.
Apparently, he doesn't even flinch which makes Ra's intrigued.
They take him in and teach him everything he knows So basically,
Bane's only real advantage is that he has a genetic mutation that makes him impervious to pain. No super strength or chemical enhancers (tht i was made aware of)
Ok, so let's break this down just a little bit. We already know that a young version of Ra's Al Ghul will be featured in the film, played Josh Pence. His scenes we also know will take place a few decades before the events of Batman Begins, which could work with the whole Bane angle if he's discovered as a child. That would put Bane squarely in Al Ghul's League of Assassins, and also set the stage for the arrival of Talia Al Ghul, who I'm convinced Marion Cotillard's character will end up being in the end.
This fits in with some stuff we've seen and heard recently about the presence of a Lazarus Pit(a Ra's Al Ghul staple) on set. It also fits a certain eyewitness account that was reported on a couple of weeks ago....
Eyewitnesses and crew members told us of a particular scene being filmed,” the site reports, “where a bald-headed child wearing ragged clothes emerges from the well and pulls his hood over his head. From the conversations, we reckon this is a young Bane, emerging from a vat of Venom, trained by Pence’s Ra’s al Ghul. The years of addiction to Venom builds him to be a massive monster with amped up senses, intelligence and physical prowess.
Or maybe it's the same guy writing similar stories on a couple of different sites. Who knows? All I know is that it sounds like a possible path Nolan could take. Personally I always liked the idea of Bane as a drug enhanced freak, but it doesn't really fit with the Nolan model, does it? My only concern about this whole "impervious to pain" thing is that it gives me bad flashbacks to that lumbering oaf we saw battling Lisbeth Salander in The Girl Who Played With Fire.
