Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, and Joey King added to The Dark Knight Rises

For some reason Matthew Modine never took off as the superstar actor his early career seemed to promise. We all recognize him as Joker(no, not THE Joker) from Stanley Kubruck's powerful 1987 war epic, Full Metal Jacket, what else immediately springs to mind for him? Vision Quest? Well now he's about to jump into the biggest comic book movie in town, as Variety broke the news that he, Tom Conti(Reuben, Reuben), and young Joey King(Battle: Los Angeles) have joined Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

As is par for the course when it comes to any Bat-casting, we don't know squat about who they'll play. All we know is that Modine's character is named "Nixon". Since Modine would make for the worst Richard Nixon ever, let's assume he's not the former Prez and probably just some numbers guy for the League of Assassins or something. Or a Gotham politician. Pure speculation on my part.

Conti is best known for his Oscar nominated performance opposite Kelly McGillis in 1983's Reuben, Reuben. He most recently popped up in Julie Taymor's beautiful adaptation of The Tempest. 11-year old Joey King turned some heads last year as the star of Ramona and Beezus, opposite Selena Gomez. To me she was spark that film sorely needed. She recently showed up in Battle: Los Angeles, although you'd never know it if you weren't looking for her. She'll be seen next in Crazy, Stupid, Love, alongside Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling.

With the launch of the film's website, and the release of the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane, I'm expecting there's going to be a ton of news on The Dark Knight Rises in the coming weeks.
