Sure Shots: Bridesmaids 2; Transformers: Dark of the Moon; Green Lantern 2
* Over the weekend, Bridesmaids surprised a lot of folks with a $20M+ opening and a 2nd place finish behind Marvel's mighty Thor. But over the last few days the female comedy held strong and actually surpassed the superhero flick. Not a small feat for an R-rated comedy with few big name stars. With success comes sequel talk, and Vulture caught up with director Paul Feig and break out star Melissa McCarthy who revealed that some discussion has already been brought up, but it'll ultimately depend on how the film performs over the next couple of weeks. Incentive for everyone to go see it again? You betcha.
* Paramount Pictures has kicked up the release date for Transformers: Dark of the Moon by a couple of days to Wednesday June 29th. All that means for me is I'll have less time to really absorb all the nuances of Michael Bay's flick before writing my review. *snort*
* In the latest edition of Total Film, Green Lantern director Martin Campbell hinted that he likely won't return for a sequel if the comic book flick does well enough to earn one. That's still up in the air, if you ask me. Campbell has a well established history of jumping into big tentpoles and then going about his merry way, so this isn't much of a surprise. Then again, Warner Brothers might up his salary if the film is a hit, and he may decide to stick around. We'll just have to wait and see. Green Lantern hits theaters on June 17th.
