* Matt Reeves(
Cloverfield
) shocked me with how good
Let Me In
was last year. Nearly as good as the superb Swedish original,
Let the Right One In
. After some speculation that he might try his hand at a Cloverfield sequel, that was ended when he signed on to direct the sci-fi film,
8 O'Clock in the Morning, and
Passage, which has a vampire tint to it. Now he's adding yet another monster themed flick to his suddenly busy schedule, as
Deadline reports he'll direct
This Dark Endeavor, a take on the Frankenstein story that sees the doctor seeking out a rare cure for his ailing brother. Jacob Aaron Estes(
Mean Creek
, rent or buy it now!!) will be adapting the script, based on a novel by Kenneth Oppel.
* And Relativity has just scored a crucial body blow against Universal in the phone booth brawl for Snow White flick supremacy. Just a few days ago Universal kicked up their Chris Hemsworth/Kristen Stewart starring
Snow White and the Huntsman six months to June 1st 2012 in order to move ahead of Relativity's
Snow White film directed by Tarsem Singh(
The Fall
). Now Relativity has decided to keep the game of "Who can top who" going a bit longer by drastically switching the release date from June 29th 2012 all the way to March 16th! What the heck are they thinking? Not only does this throw the entire production schedule out of whack, but they put the film against even stiffer competition in the process. They'll be facing Jonah Hill's
21 Jump Street
remake, and only a week later will square off with
The Hunger Games. Not a good move.
* We've seen a
flood of new
posters priming us for the bitter end of the Harry Potter saga. Well now we've got one more for The Deathly Hallows, and it's pretty much the same as the one we saw featuring Daniel Radcliffe. The only difference? This features the tough and sexy(hey I can say that legally now) Emma Watson as Hermione. Check that out below...
