Trailer Time: Kidnapped, directed by Miguel Angel Vivas

Even when I know there's more to it than meets the eye, all of these home invasion flicks are starting to look the same. It's become a hot genre of late, with one director(Michael Haneke) loving it so much he made the same film twice(Funny Games). The latest to dip his toes into the pool is director Miguel Angel Vivas, with his Spanish language film, Kidnapped. There's been a lot of buzz for this one on the horror circuit, due to the director's choice in using only long takes to piece the story together. It's like somebody cloned a bunch of Joe Wrights and let them all play in the same sandbox.

IFC picked up the film with plans to release it next month. Looks like pretty standard stuff to me, which might explain why so much has been made of the technical aspect. Check it out for yourself below, followed by the plot...

Here's the plot, courtesy of our friends over at Slashfilm...

Jaime (Fernando Cayo) and Marta (Ana Wagener) are a middle-aged couple with a teenage daughter named Isa (Manuela Velles). The family is in the process of moving into a big new house. Marta wants to gather the family for dinner at home to celebrate. Isa has her own plans; she wants to go out with her boyfriend. Jaime is stuck in the middle of it all. Everyone’s evening is ruined when a gang of masked hoodlums pay a visit to the home.
