There's been no shortage of coverage here on Alexander Payne's highly anticipated return to the director's chair with The Descendants, so if you've read any of it then you know where Payne has been since 2004's Sideways. Suffice it to say this was a long time coming, with the end in sight on December 6th. The Descendants stars George Clooney as a wealthy guy who tries to reconnect with his two daughters after an accident puts his wife in the hospital. He gets thrown a major curveball when he learns that his wife had been cheating on him all along.
The film also stars Robert Forster(his bit in the below trailer is hilarious), Beau Bridges, Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard, Mary Birdsong, and Nick Krause. After the 20 second clip we saw a couple weeks back which was basically Clooney sprinting around Hawaii like a madman, we get to real emotional meat of the story. The look on Clooney's face after he learns of his wife's infidelity already has me sold. If Up in the Air was his best work yet(and it was), then this looks like it may be of that caliber.
