The only reason it's worth it to keep posting the trailers for Mr. Popper's Penguins is to catch those moments where Jim Carrey just looks dead inside. Not that I can blame him. He's starring in a film where he'll be upstaged by a bunch of waddling CG birds in every single scene. What is there to love? For those friends and colleagues of mine who have kids and will no doubt be forced to endure this film, the trailer is below. I'm sure Richard and Florence Atwater's novel was great, but this adaptation looks dreadful.
Parents, June 17th is the day to mark on your calenders. Enjoy.
PLOT
Jim Carrey is Tom Popper, a driven businessman who is clueless when it comes to the important things in life—until he inherits six penguins. Popper's penguins turn his swank New York apartment into a snowy winter wonderland—and the rest of his life upside-down. Filmed on a refrigerated soundstage with real Gentoo Penguins, "Mr. Popper's Penguins" is a contemporary adaptation of the classic book.
