Trailer Time: Salvation Boulevard, starring Pierce Brosnan and Marisa Tomei

Who's the guy who directed The Whole Nine Yards? Jonathan Lynn, that's right. Not that he has anything to do with Salvation Boulevard, it's just kinda what this trailer feels like to me. It's actually George Ratlif who directed, making this pretty much the first notable thing he's done since his underwhelming horror, Joshua, back in 2007. With Cannes finally out the door, expect to see a lot more of these little indie flicks popping up to get lost in the big summer throwdown.

The response from Cannes was pretty mild, but the cast is simply phenomenal. Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Connelly, Marisa Tomei, Ed Harris, Ciaran Hinds, Jim Gaffigan, and Isabelle Fuhrman star in the religiously tinged comedy about a guy(Kinnear) who falls under the spell of a charismatic pastor(Brosnan), but finds himself in hot water when the pastor's chief rival(Harris) turns up dead. Check out the trailer below...

Yep. Definitely a The Whole Nine Yards vibe, with Brosnan sorta doing the Jimmy the Tulip thing. What do you think? Is this a movie you'll be running out to see when it releases on July 15th?

PLOT
Pastor Dan Day is a charismatic evangelical preacher who has captivated a small western American town with his charm — and the promise of a sweet real estate development. Carl is a former follower — not of Christ, but of the Grateful Dead — who has since become “found” in Dan’s Evangelical community, serving as one of the preacher’s great examples of spiritual and moral transformation. But Carl’s new belief system is turned upside down when he witnesses a sinful act that Pastor Dan’s doughy henchman aims to cover up.
