Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg tackle the Turkey Bowl
The Other Guys was one of the most pleasant surprises of last year. The oddball combination of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg proved to pretty potent, and people agreed because it went on to earn over $170M worldwide. Wahlberg and Ferrell must've had a damn good time as well because they're teaming up again, this time on the football comedy, Turkey Bowl.
The duo will star as two guys from football obsessed towns who compete in an annual tackle football game for bragging rights. The deal is that the games themselves will be huge, cameo laden affairs similar to the big fight scene in Anchorman. Deadline notes that Alec Baldwin is already confirmed for a role as Wahlberg's dad. I'll sh*t if Wahlberg's team is named "The Funky Bunch".
No word on who'll direct, but the script comes from 30 Rock scribes Robert Carlock and Scott Silveri, with Ferrell and Adam McKay producing. Shooting could begin at any time, but likely won't be until next year due to both men's busy schedules.
I just hope this turns out better than Ferrell's other sports related flicks. Kicking and Screaming, Semi-Pro, and Blades of Glory all never should've left the bench. Wahlberg has had much better success, with Invincible and most recently The Fighter.
