1st good look at Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Just as I thought a few days ago, now we can start that deluge of press for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the sequel to Guy Ritchie's hit starring Robert Downey Jr. as the famous detective and Jude Law as Watson. We've seen a few images of both, and even a little bit of new addition Noomi Rapace(The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as Sim, a gypsy who gets involved in their investigation. One character we've seen very little of, except in the background of a teaser poster, is Moriarty, Holmes' archnemesis. Courtesy of USAToday(via ThePlaylist), we've got our first really good glimpse of him, played by Jared Harris.

Ok, so it's not much, and he looks like somebody just stuck their finger in his wine glass, but kinda cool. As for the film itself, it's going to be based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short story, The Final Problem. That one is probably most famous for the epic clash between Holmes and Moriarty at the top of Reichenback Falls. Holmes' brother, Mycroft(played by Stephen Fry) has a bit part in the story as well, which hopefully will be much bigger in the movie.

We should be getting a trailer soon, but don't we all pretty much know what to expect out of this? If you liked the first one, chances are you'll dig this. Guy Ritchie and Co. aren't going to screw around too much with the formula. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens on December 16th.
